Our programme for the year 2020-21 has now been completed. We have had four successful Zoom meetings, the Pop Maths Quiz took place online and Open Challenge was held in an essentially normal form. The Pop Maths Quiz attracted 139 students in 36 teams from 15 schools; for further details, please go to Event_20210306_PopMathsQuiz. Open Challenge had 87 entries from 34 schools; an online event for participants in Open Challenge was held on 19 May; a report is available at Event_20210519_OpenChallengePrizeEvening2021.

Arrangements for our 2021-22 programme are well underway (see announcement on the left). We shall again not be receiving our usual sponsorship so membership will remain of great importance.

The FunMaths Roadshow also remains on sale and will hopefully become more relevant as schools return to a semblance of normality.

The LivMS Bursary Fund (charity no. 1156909) remains open for business. For the remainder of our current financial year (ending on 31 July 2021), applications will be considered on a first come first served basis. Go to Joyce Hatton Memorial Bursaries for more information and to apply. We expect then to be reverting to our normal practice with a first deadline for the year 2021-22 on 30 September.

Programme for 2021-22

During 2021-22, we we are planning a mixture of online and face-to-face activities. Three popular lectures have already been arranged, including a Christmas lecture by Simon Singh (see below), and others are in the pipeline. Further announcements will be made as and when arrangements are finalised. All these events will require registration or ticketing.

The Pop Maths Quiz will take place during March 2022. We plan to have a face-to-face version at LJMU in parallel with an online version similar to this year's.

Open Challenge will have the same format as this year's.

These activities are free of charge.

Teachers may make puzzles from this collection available to students in their schools for use on screen or after printing out.

Parents and pupils may access these puzzles directly at home, and should first read the Notes for Guidance.

Answers to the puzzles are provided, and there is a feedback form so you can get in touch with us.

The FunMaths Roadshow continues to be on sale during the COVID-19 crisis by download only (no CDs). You can see all the details here.

The LivMS Bursary Fund (charity no. 1156909) offers bursaries - more information on the Joyce Hatton Memorial Bursaries page. At this time, the trustees will give preference to imaginative projects designed to help in dealing with the problems associated with COVID-19. For the remainder of our current financial year (up to 31 July 2021), applications will be considered on a first come first served basis.
