* "LivMS Open Challenge"
** Started in 1980, our annual take-away personal entry "Open Challenge" competition is targeted at senior secondary school pupils. Overall there were *103* participant from a total of *27* schools.
** Two participants tied for First Place. They were Jack Virgin of Bolton School for Boys and Sophia Wong form the Liverpool Blue Coat School.
** All "Open Challenge" question papers from 1980 to 2015 carried apt cartoon illustrations drawn for us by Mr Peter H Ackerley of Runcorn. Alas
Delete this year he reavched the stage when he felt unable to continue. We expressed our thanks to him for his valued contributions to the enhancement of LivMS Open Challenge participants' enjoyment of mathematics.

* "LivMS PopMaths Quiz"
** Our annual team-entry contest for sixth-formers was held on 12 March 2016 at the Byrom Street Campus, LJMU. It attracted *123* students in *32* teams from *11* schools/colleges accompanied by *15* teachers. The event was additionally supported by a team of *15* personnel comprising LivMS colleagues together with LJMU Maths students and PGCE trainees. In all, ten prizes were awarded with First Place being taken by The Liverpool Blue Coat School and Second Place going to Runshaw College, Leyland.
** We are grateful to LJMU and to WH Smith Promotions Ltd for their continuing sponsorship of the Quiz. Finally we acknowledge Chartwell-Yorke and Quizdom for their earlier periods of support which are both now closed.

*Joyce* *Hatton* *Memorial* *Bursaries*

** The "Joyce Hatton Memorial Bursaries" scheme is now funded through the "Liverpool Mathematical Society Bursary Fund" (registered Charity no. 1156909), which is financed principally through the Liverpool Mathematical Society.
** Its administration is entrusted to a duly appointed Board of Trustees.
** Bursaries are awarded to teachers, students and pupils in schools to support activities related to mathematics for which funds are not otherwise available,
** Details of the scheme's financial proceedings are presented elsewhere in a separate Treasurer's Report.

*Liv*MS* *FunMaths* *Roadshow*

** Examples of our well-established LivMS FunMaths Roadshow material were showcased in hands-on mode at the four-day 2016 ATM Easter Conference which was held 29 March - 1 April at Chesford Grange, a conference hotel, located in rural Warwickshire. the event was attended by about 240 delegates. Fronted by Ken McKelvie, ably assisted by Hope PGCE students, Chris Mooney and Paul Stewart, the event proved to be a useful and congenial experience. Paul and Chris received honoraria from the Society's funds and additional support via the "Joyce Hatton Memorial Bursaries" scheme.

*C*P*D*

** Two parallel events, both entitled 'Bar Modelling to support Mathematical Understanding', were held at Liverpool Hope University on Wednesday 4th November 2015. One event targeted at Primary level was led by Lisa Baggaley and the other targeted at Secondary level was led by Sue Harkness. The Primary event was attended by *28* teachers, and the Secondary event was attended by *10*, all from a range of schools across Merseyside. Fiona Gustard acted as facilitator.

** Suggested titles gleaned for future CPD topics included 'Maths in the Real World', 'Finance and Enterprise', and 'Support for new GCSE and Mastery Curricula'.
