Energy is a measure of the ability of a force to do work. It is a scalar quantity, measured in the S.I. system, in Joules (J). There are several types of Energy including Kinetic, Gravitational Potential, Light, Heat, Sound and Elastic Potential.

The total Energy in a closed system is conserved.
