[[[>40 !! #COVID-19#UPDATE,#22MAY2021# Our programme for the year 2020-21 has now been completed. We have had four successful Zoom meetings, the Pop Maths Quiz took place online and Open Challenge was held in an essentially normal form. The Pop Maths Quiz attracted 139 students in 36 teams from 15 schools; for further details, please go to Event_20210306_PopMathsQuiz. Open Challenge had 87 entries from 34 schools; an online event for participants in Open Challenge was held on 19 May and a report will appear in due course. Arrangements for our 2021-22 programme are well underway (see announcement on the left). We shall again not be receiving our usual sponsorship so membership will remain of great importance. The FunMaths Roadshow also remains on sale and will hopefully become more relevant as schools return to a semblance of normality. The LivMS Bursary Fund (charity no. 1156909) remains open for business. For the remainder of our current financial year (ending on 31 July 2021), applications will be considered on #a#first#come#first#served# basis. Go to Joyce Hatton Memorial Bursaries for more information and to apply. We expect then to be reverting to our normal practice with a first deadline for the year 2021-22 on 30 September. ]]] ! Welcome to the Liverpool Mathematical Society ---- !! #JOIN#THE#SOCIETY#FOR#2021/22# Membership of the Society is now open for the year 2021/22. . If you are able to pay more than the standard subscription, any additional amount paid will be treated as a donation, for which the Society will be most grateful. Click Membership to find out more - save by taking out a 5-year subscription. There is a reduced rate for ATM, MA and U3A members and also those who live at a distance and do not wish to attend meetings. Institutional membership is also available, for example covering all teachers in a school or college. ---- ! #Open#Challenge#'21# The online event for Open Challenge participants took place on Wednesday 19 May. 33 entrants attended, together with 2 teachers and one parent. The event included a series of puzzles, presentation of the solutions and a virtual presentation of the prizes. Solutions and results may be found on the Open Challenge page. ---- ! #Programme#for#2021-22# During 2021-22, we we are planning a mixture of online and face-to-face activities. Three popular lectures have already been arranged, including a Christmas lecture by Simon Singh (see below), and others are in the pipeline. Further announcements will be made as and when arrangements are finalised. All these events will require registration or ticketing. The Pop Maths Quiz will take place during March 2022. We plan to have a face-to-face version at LJMU in parallel with an online version similar to this year's.
