Do your mathematics students often ask: Don’t you often wish you could explain areas of mathematics with reference to meaningful examples from the real world?

This course will help answer these questions.

Presenters:

Aims: Suitability: This course will suit all teachers of Higher-Tier GCSE Mathematics and AS and A Level Core Mathematics.

Programme: A detailed programme will be sent out to delegates nearer to the event, but in brief the day will consist of a series of short, themed ‘workshops’ covering such diverse contexts as building a musical instruments, constructing an electronic thermometer, the geometry of a satellite dish and a discussion of optimisation problems in industry. The content will be at a level commensurate with Higher-Tier GCSE and AS Level Core Mathematics.

Cost: The cost of the event is £50 per teacher attending. Payment will be by BACS transfer and full details will be provided to organisations once a booking has been received.
