LivMS Event:
A unique feature of the exhibition is the sustainable communication of all exhibits through free software and didactical background information and the possibility for organisations or schools to copy the exhibition and organize it on its own.
In this talk, IMAGINARY and its various exhibits will be shown with a focus on the programme SURFER and its possible use in schools. The programme visualizes algebraic surfaces in real time. It encourages users to create own mathematical artwork and to explore the underlying mathematics in a playful way. Within the framework of the project ?IMAGINARY - Open Source Platform for Interactive Mathematics? which started in 2011 and is funded by the Klaus Tschira Stiftung, a series of workshops are carried out with school teachers and students. The talk gives an overview on the current projects and provides first ideas on how IMAGINARY and its contents can be used in the school environment.
